A Legacy of Excellence
Under Toit’s guidance, Ridgeback Wines has achieved some of the industry’s highest accolades, from Wines of the Year and Best in Show Trophies to consistent Platter’s Wine Guide 5-star ratings, and numerous Platinum and Double Gold awards. These achievements are more than just recognition, they are a testament to Toit’s talent, his dedication, and his relentless pursuit of quality.
Viticulture, however, is where Toit’s passion has always been strongest. Under his leadership, Ridgeback was crowned Champion Vineyard in the region on three occasions during the annual Vinpro Viticultural Competition, a clear reflection of the respect he has earned across the industry.
A Proud Farewell
Toit leaves Ridgeback to take on an exciting new role at another esteemed wine estate. While his departure marks the end of a defining era for us, we part on the warmest of terms, filled with gratitude and pride.
It is a moment of reflection, looking back with deep appreciation and forward with optimism for what comes next.
As we step into this new chapter, we have not yet appointed a new winemaker. We will take the time needed to find the perfect candidate to honour and build on the strong foundation that Toit has helped to lay.
